Mentally Losing It

Serious post for once.

Us millennial’s are way too hard on ourselves, and its showing in how stressed out we are everyday of our lives. I’ll be the first to admit it, I suffer from really bad anxiety, and sometimes low depression. I break down. I can’t function. I feel like my life is ending.

Lately I have been able to control it more, and so I’m sharing my personal techniques in hope that others may be able to use it, or get something out of it. Even if it’s just a minor bit of help.

Okay so;

    • Breathe. Cliche, but breathe. Get into the habit of practicing focused, deep breathing.
    • Identify what triggers you. Sometimes I’ll take on too much with school, and work. I’ll turn to binge drinking, and before you know it I’m falling apart. So jot down what triggers you, and try to manage those situations when they tend to arise. Avoid drugs and alcohol. These may seem to help with the stress, but ultimately add on to stress with the decisions we make while inebriated, or under a substance influence.
    • Surround yourself around people you love. Whenever I’m falling into the sunken place, I surround myself around my friends or family.
    • TLC, take a ME day. Call out of work, lay in bed for 24, take a bubble bath, and just relax. Whatever that TLC means for you, do it (Like Nike!!).  Go for a walk, do yoga! So many things to do! Talk to others. Share your problems and how you are feeling and coping with a parent, friend, counselor, doctor, or pastor.Try to increase the amount of time you spend on enjoyable activities. Take a break. Whatever is causing your stress, take a break from it.Don’t compare the way you are behaving or feeling now while you are depressed with the way you used to behave or feel before becoming depressed.
    • Don’t compare your lifestyle to anyone else’s either.Take care of yourself.
      • Eat healthy, well-balanced meals
      • Exercise on a regular basis
      • Get plenty of sleep
      • Give yourself a break if you feel stressed out
    • Reward yourself for your efforts. Celebrate yourself. Even if it’s for small stuff.

  • SEEK HELP!!
