Podcasts to listen to this year.

Last year I got into the podcast thing. I love listening to podcasts, as they give me a moment to reflect, and relate to what’s going on in my life. Also a great thing to get into if you’re not big on reading and wanna limit screen time.

  • Adversity Hour – This podcast is fairly new, and hosted by one of my good friends Miesha Shenelle. She talks about friendships, and other adversities that we face as human beings. I may be bias, but thats because she’s my friend. However all bias aside, she plans on tackling the hard to talk about topics, and creating a safe space for everyone to explore their feelings pertaining to each topic. So make sure you subscribe and buckle up, and prepare for adversity hour. ( PS you will find me on an upcoming episode soon ๐Ÿ™‚ )
  • Brown Girl Self-Care – In this podcast, the author Are talks about her experiences with self care, health, wellness, religion and more. As she shares her Stories you can’t help but feel a connectedness, knowing you aren’t the only one going through this. I feel a sense of sisterhood. A virtual sisterhood.
  • Balanced Black Girl – This may be my favorite podcast of all time. And this is only because of the versatility that the host Lestraunda brings to her episodes. She covers everything from navigating a small business and creating content to being a black women pursuing masters in a world where the ratio of black women in education is less than those around. Most times she does episodes in series. So as of late its been small business, prior to that it was finances, and one series was on spirituality. She features guests speakers who are knowledgeable in these topics, which is great. Because sometimes we think we know what were talking about until we speak to a professional in that field. But if your looking for a one stop podcast then this is the one.
  • Therapy For Black Girls – Although it is stated that this podcast is NOT a substitute for therapy, it sure feels like it. When life is hectic and I cant seek therapy, this podcast Lowkey gets me through life. Dr. Joy Harden talks all things mental health, personal development, and more.
  • The Hey Girl Podcast Alex Elle has a more conversational style podcast, in that there is no set focus. Another versatile podcasts featuring guests speakers who talk about different aspects of life ranging from intimate conversations, to silly conversations, self help conversations, and more. You may be familiar with Alex Elle as she is famous for her self help/ self care journals. And her quotes on instagram.
  • Black Girls Heal – I listen to this podcast by Shena Lashey from time to time. She focuses on helping women navigate cycles that aren’t the best for us. She talks about various topics ranging from attachment, intimacy, trauma and more, as well providing tools that can help us navigate these topics.
