So I decided to try an Ice Facial for a week after seeing so many people doing it on social media. I normally do not fall for the trends, but after seeing all the benefits of ice facials I succumbed.
To start off, for those who don’t know, an ice facial is an easily accessible form of cold therapy. They are believed to offer a number of benefits, including tighter, smoother skin, reduced inflammation, improved blood circulation and brighter skin tone. Supposedly a major key in getting glowing skin.
In addition I’d like to add that if you are someone that suffers from panic and/or anxiety attacks this can also benefit you. They say this is a grounding exercise. The cold sensation shocks us and kind of confuses us for a second to focus on the sensation rather than our anxiety. Ice triggers the body to kind of create a new sense of mindfulness.
The process is easy. You can either hold an ice cube directly (like I did), or gather an ice cube or two in a cotton cloth (like any sane person), and begin to rub in circular motions for 1 to 2 minutes. I did this for about a week and decided to log the changes in my face. The results are below.
Day 1: I went all in and took the ice cube by force. I used my bare hands and placed the ice cube directly on my skin. It wasn’t bad. And I’m not sure what I was supposed to feel. But most of all I felt awake, or rejuvenated for a better word of choice.
Day 2: remembering how cold the ice was, I decided to use a paper towel and two it around the ice cube instead of placing it on my face. I don’t see much changes yet. But I did apply as I did yesterday. Taking the ice cubes and rubbing it in circular lotion until I had enough.
Day 3: I don’t see much changed, but I love the glow I’m getting. Again I woke up this morning, applied my ice cubes via paper towel and went on about my day. Today I decided to wear makeup and the application was much smoother. I also felt that my makeup stayed in place better as well.
Day 4: I got a compliment on my skin today. Was told my skin is glowing, my face is clearer, and I also look a little lighter (which may be due to losing weight). But either way I’m here for the compliments. I don’t really see much changes under my eyes as my bags are still visible. But we’ll see, hopefully that changes.
Day 5: Today my face is brighter than usual. The ice cubes are still freezing me the F**k out, but my bags are lighting up!
Day 6: Okay, so I was a little late today with my ice facial. I went to the gym and did it after I got all cleaned up. What I noticed is that the ice doesn’t help with hydration as my face feels dry even if I do add this step in. But it helps lock in my moisture products when I apply it without towel drying my face after the ice facial.
Day 7: Okay, last day and I must say my skin is glowing. Icing my face is still dreadful as I am never fully prepared for the cold. However I feel like my bags have gotten lighter. I think I am going to try to keep this up as it has some benefits on my skin. And maybe its a mental thing, but I feel refreshed with this added step.

All in all, I guess the facial can be beneficial. Its like a natural boost and wakes me up before my cup of coffee. It has a glowing skin effect, and my eye bags are slowly disappearing. I do not know if this is a coincidence but my anxiety has not been much of a thing the past seven days. I do think I am going to continue with the ice facials. Although its cold, I am quite fond of it and feel fancy adding it into my skin care.
