So to end off the 2023 year I am going to try to hold myself accountable for reading books. What better way than writing book reviews? So here’s to my first review on a well deserved book.

As an avid reader, I recently had the pleasure of immersing myself in the world of Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. This captivating novel delves into the lives of the descendants of two half-sisters over eight generations, intricately weaving together themes of heritage, identity, and the complexities of African American history. With each turn of the page, I found myself engrossed in Gyasi’s exploration of the African American experience and the profound impact of the past on the present.

1. The Divide Between African Americans and Africans:
   One of the aspects that truly resonated with me was Gyasi’s portrayal of the divide between African Americans and Africans. Through her vivid storytelling, she expertly brings to light the cultural and historical differences that exist between these two communities. It is, without a doubt, a literary masterpiece that deserves the highest praise. I wholeheartedly give Homegoing a perfect 10 out of 10 rating and encourage everyone to embark on this transformative reading experience.
